The Dangers of Dance
In 1247 in Erfurt, Germany, 200 people started dancing on a bridge which collapsed under their weight. A priest ordered the dancers to stop and in response they joined hands and danced in a ring dance of sin. The priest then cursed them to dance for an entire year as punishment. There are indeed contemporary written accounts of a lot of these outbreaks lending some credence to the stories. But just because someone wrote something down at the time doesn't make it true.
