Privacy and the Prisoner's Dilemma
Some scholars have argued that it would simply be impossible for firms to protect people's privacy. The internet is a race to the bottom with respect to privacy, one scholar has said. A search company called ducta go doesn't actually engage in the same sorts of techniques that google does. They don't collect your information. And they derive positive benefits from the fact that firms collect their information and show them ads that are actually targeted to what their preferences are.
