Mesiko - A Brief History of Mesiko
The mashika brought with them a collection of fine textiles as gifts. In return, the spanish gave them some beaded jewellry. They agreed that they would travel back to the capital of tenoctitlan and report what they had seen. When they got there, the king himself called them into his presence. These lowly watchmen would have come before the emperor barefoot and would have bowed their heads when they spoke to him. Meeting his eyes would have been strictly forbidden.
