The Democrats had a surprisingly good midterms. They've ended up with a solid majority in the Senate, and they did much better in the House. In post-election surveys, democracy actually played a stronger role than people thought it would. The idea that the Supreme Court can really intervene carries real liabilities for the Republican Party right now.
