The Relationship Between Knowledge of the Head and Knowledge of the Heart
The way that I've often thought about the relationship between knowledge of the head and knowledge of the heart or knowledge of the self is a little line from one of when you and I've quoted him a lot. Deidre Bonhoeffer, he has this little section in his book, Creation in the Fall. He makes this stellar little comment that when the man and the woman eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, it's interesting that they trade in relationship for reason. That at that moment humans traded in a knowledge of God to a knowledge of or about God. And curiosity is not autonomy.
