The Military Experience of the First World War
Do we have any idea what kind of a percentage or estimate of how many people had military experience and how many just people that didn't? I couldn't put an exact figure on it, but what I would say is it varies widely from country to country. If you're looking at volunteers from Germany or France, for example, which were both very large contributors, if you like,. It's pretty high because of the recent experiences of those two countries. And almost all men of a certain age have been conscripted in the First World War in those countries.
