The Divine Comedy

Dante's Inferno is a story of universal salvation and how could it be otherwise? Dante realizes that all life, every being from all times and places are expressions of the divine being across myriad times and places. He was kind of offering a renewed vision of the familiar territory of Christians at the time. And so his way of doing it is to enter the darkness and by entering it see how it can return to the light.
