In 2005, Warburg Pincus bought Ashford University and turned it into a for-profit college. With accreditation, the new leaders were able to explode enrollment. When they bought the college in 2005, it had just 332 students. Six years later, it had over 83,000. Almost all of them enrolled in the school's online program. It allows you to raise price or cut services in pretty extreme ways.
