Republicans have lost three straight national elections where what's best to win over the Republican base is the worst strategy to win in a general election. The conventional wisdom in 2022 was that no Republican candidate could run in those midterms without fully embracing the idea that the 2020 election was stolen. That does strike me as a big risk, and we'll see if a candidate can make that case.
