Being in the LGBTQ community is not associated with higher rates of child sex abuse. Transgender teens are less likely to commit acts of sexual abuse than their peers, but trans people are four times more likely to be victims of violent crime at schools where they're not allowed to use the bathroom that matches their gender. In a Denver study, risk of child abuse committed by a relative's heterosexual partner is over 100 times that of someone who identifies as gay or bisexual.
