The Lived Reality of Poverty in America Today
Ilyse Hogue's new book is about the lived reality of poverty in America today. She talks about a man she met named Julio Peas, who was working two jobs when they met several years ago. He would work the graveyard shift at McDonald's from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. And then he'd clock in at a company called Arrow Tech and do anything they told him to for another eight hours. In this rich country, we certainly can afford to extend people’s lives by giving them more life," says Hogue.
