Anti-Seizure Medications Can Help Prevent Seizures

All anti-seizure medications prevent seizures by either decreasing excitation or increasing inhibition. Excitation is mediated by excitatory postsynaptic potentials and by the action potential. And so medications that affect the glutamate receptor, those that inhibit the release of neurotransmitters can all play a role in anti- seizure properties.
