In two thousand 11, the surgeon and writer atulgoande published an article in the new yorker magazine called personal best. In it he talks about the idea of coaching, not just for sports, but for other professions too, like doctors and surgeons. Goande describes the work of doctor capric grienberg, a health services researcher and surgeon now at the medical college of georgia. And she had been working with sport coaches, music coaches, and had developed a surgical coaching model. We conducted a two year surgical coaching programme where we had coaches and roll bring a video and sit down for an hour to 90 minutes with a trained surgical coach to get feedback on their technical skill
