Elijah repaired the altar here, so worship is restored. Next God's presence becomes obvious. There's fire where a minute ago there was nothing but wet wood and red meat. Then the people turned to God. Can you imagine beholding something like that? A visible manifestation of God's presence followed by those who are utterly disinterested in him, calling out to him in desperation by name. If that happened today in this church service, I imagine you would leave pleasantly surprised by your church experience.
