Shanti Deva's Dharma Speech - The Bodhicherry Avatar
Shanti Deva was in direct communication with the Bodhisattva Manjushri. The other monks were a bit kind of snooty about him and thought he was a bit of a wester. So they suggested that he give a Dharma speech to the whole of Nalanda which was thousands of monks from different schools. He delivered the Bodhicherry Avatar in its entirety, what's the word, ex-demporaneously,. Just stood there, no notes, just gave this whole thing. Then when he came to chapter 9, the wisdom chapter, the story goes, he rose into the air, disappeared and his voice just continued to boom out the wisdom section.
