In the inter war period there is a real contestation and debate about what slavery is. How did that inform their thinking about its ongoing nature and how it might be overcome? Yah, that's a great question. I mean, one of the things the book tries to show is that we ought to read black atlantic writing on slavery as alternative ways of thinking about the legacy of slavery.
