Co-opting is the practice of building community through cooperative social and economic projects. The book was written as part of a project to explore how co-ops can be used for good in urban areas. Co-operatives are often seen as an alternative form of government or public sector employment, but there's more to it than that. In this article we look at some of the cultural interventions made by people who have been involved with 'co- ops' over the past few years.
