The Liturgy of the Word
The liturgy of the word breaks down into two parts. The beginning part is the service of prayer, where all this activity occurs. And then after that, we sit down for the scriptural readings. This allows us to meditate on the word of god and allow the lord to instruct us through his prophets and through the liturgical proclamation of scripture. So it's not just like to sit down and be a spectator at mass. We pray and we worship god in the mass.
