Heracles and the Amazon War Belt
The goddess Hera could not abide the fact that Heracles had managed to secure the Amazon war belt so easily. So she transformed herself into an Amazon warrior and started running through Themistria, raising the alarm. She called out to the other Amazons that their queen had been kidnapped by the duplicitous Greeks. The Amazons believed her and quickly suited up for battle,. mounted their horses, and charged at the Greek ships. We're told that the fighting was fierce and the Amazons more than lived up to their reputation as formidable warriors. But Heracles was Heracles after all, and so thanks to his great strength, soon many of the Amazon's greatest heroes lay dead
