The World Bang?
The World Bank was originally set up to help war-torn Europe and Japan rebuild their infrastructure. After 1960, it became a bank for lending money to countries that private capital wasn't interested in doing. The IMF is based in 44 of Bretton Woods in New Hampshire; the World Bank is headquartered in Washington D.C.
