The Divisive Management Style of Chief Burke

As Burke settled into his role as Chief, he continued to unsettle the officers below him with what many found to be a divisive management style. In retrospect, it does appear that he elevated people who were loyal to him and people who were not had no choice but to retire and go away. And that included Dominic Verone. We now know how controlling Chief Burke was in the ensuing months in years and how he intimidated and many of the rank and file were fearful of him. So much so, they were afraid to talk to me, call me, email me. It was very difficult for me to convey some of my thoughts on what I think should have been done with this case.
