Joseph campbell: Mythical thinking is a mode of thinking and imagining that's fundamentally ironic. He says it allows us to have a mind simultaneously in the real while searching for the transcendent at the same time. The last latin word of ovid's metamorphosis is vivam, which means i shall live. Avid certainly continues to live on through his work, but his present life isn't one of merely posthumous fame.
