"These children knew something the world didn't know. They knew that human qualities such as intellectual skills could be cultivated," he says. "When these students were theoretically failing, they were like, hell yeah, I'm learning." Carol's thought of success in life was if you could arrange successes and avoid failures. At all costs, she said, stay smart.
