Is There a Role for Manufacturers in Developing Their Own Protocol?
Sometimes manufacturers choose to go rogue and have various reasons to do that where they just create their own protocol. And I think this comes from a certain desire to have a level of control. They might be using some of the same frequencies as other technologies, but they want to control the whole stack of how those communications happen. Lutron's Clear Connect is a great example of something that's really solid.
