20 mill equivalence per liter in IV fluids is a very reasonable way to approach this. I think using potassiums that are prescribed and delivered as mixed is a safer way than adding things to bags. In neonatal ICU, you'll start seeing people reach for those lower tonicity fluids because of babies concentrating abilities in their kidneys. When we start getting in these smaller kiddos, they actually can tolerate a much lower sodium content in their fluids more successfully.
