The Future of Science Fiction

It was Uglies and Scott Westerfeld that really said, hey, guess what, YA, let me introduce you to dystopian science fiction. And Uglies is very good. You guys should read it. Phenomenal series. But I didn't finish my thought. Maybe we're just living a few decades in the past in YA and the next thing will be cyberpunk. Maybe it will. Here's the problem. Everyone is endlessly recycling William Gibson,. whereas William Gibson has actually moved on. He is doing the same ideas, but in a way that feels modern instead of feels retro modern.
