Young people from Myanmar had thought relatively little about the injustices on the edge of their world. They tended to think of the Karin as terrorists up in the hills, rather than freedom fighters. But once the top medore started unloading machine guns into crowds, people were confronted with a situation they'd been able to ignore before. Suddenly, they saw that the Karin and other marginalized ethnic groups were victims of the same government violence that they now faced.
