I always thought of her as an activist. I certainly didn't know about, even if I knew that she was a trendy in the 70s writer critic. It was nice to have her engaging fairly directly with what we've been doing. Why literary criticism is important philosophically is that it's kind of where people did the hard work of thinking about human nature.
