The Evolution of Networks of Insects
Evolution has come up with ways to get around the problem of damage in one part of a leaf stopping the flow of water and sugar throughout the whole leaf. And then in networks, also, h in some cases you don't want materials, ore things, to flow, like pathagans or viruses. So that's two diversity networks. The third one is, as you mention the a, the bottom up self organization. What we don't see in nature is a central command and control. But there is a parallel in this self organizing behavior in human systems when there is a need to collectively manage a resource.
