The Race to Subsidies Can Lead to Corruption
I think all of us have to be shocked and disappointed at how much corruption has been unveiled in the US over the last say 20 years. There is corruption in this fundamental sense that if we put up barriers to competition from abroad, we basically encourage very cozy government business relations with insufficient competition. I'm not optimistic that long-term companies that are favored by the government don't exploit it.
