In philippians, paul exhorts us to conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of or suitable to the gospel of christ. So no, paul is not preaching works, works righteousness when he says we ought to walk worthy. What paul is saying is that you and i are to have such a heart attitude of gratefulness for what god has done for us as romans. The person who professes to be a christian does not lie, does not live a life of asteists. When a person, by the grace of god, becomes regenerate, he or she can then e mately say they are now in the world, but not of it.
