Modern Liberty
The risk of the modern world is that people will be tempted back into something, frankly, in constante terms, better. And ancient freedom has its appeal, but it doesn't quite have the ringing endorsements of philosophical principle as modern liberty does. The two temptations are either to fall for ancient liberty because it is more attractive, or simply to subsist in the world of modern liberty because it's so comfortable. But crucially, if you think that your modern liberty is secure because people aren't telling you what to do, you are making a basic mistake.
