There's like 200 special effects which is completely unheard of for a movie in 1968 so they have to figure out every single step of that in advance. The first shot on the discovery it's a pool going sideways with the equator of the screen if you will taking a jog with the camera locked down inside. I don't think there'd ever been a shot like that and the reason why it's held for so long is because audience members would feel like gas, he says.
