The Disabling Status of LGBT People in Russia

Kazakhstan rescinded Yevgeny's Russian citizenship, leaving him stateless. He can stay in the country on a residency permit and apply for a passport in five years. But Russia tells him he actually has a path to citizenship. His subject of study at school is hate crimes against LGBT people. The biggest purpose of this law is to signal that there are second-class citizens in Russia outside the protection of the law.
