B m i is a measure of mass divided by stature. It was developed by adolfh katlay, who was a belgian astronomer and statistician back in the nineteenth century. Turns out that empirically, it works closer to the square for adult humans than previously thought. So clearly we get that b m i isa useful tool for epidemologic research and some simple physiologic research - but it's not a perfect clinical tool for the average person.
