Cleopatra would have had more luck if the fact that her children in charge of Egypt didn't begin an end with Caesar's son, young Caesarean. Octavian gets more out of depicting them as being this rival kingdom to Rome, kind of separating it out. If she makes it look like Egypt is her domain, which it largely is, and she's happy to stay there, Antony can make it look like I'm just a Roman general.
