Retributive Punishment Is Not the Whole Story

Most people agree that there's some kind of proportionality requirement. Punishment has to be roughly proportioned to the crime lie. You can't give somebody a punishment that's like, a thousand times worse than the things they did. And we're not exactly doing that, but we might be giving punishments that ar a hundred times worsethan the thing a person did. Noo. Thats thousands of times worse.
