The Pessimism of the Left

I've had two recent periods. The first one in academia online all the time and obsessed with Twitter, almost get socialized into this sort of... hysterical. And then I've had a break from academia for nearly five years where I've obviously worked with ... worked with a homeless, prison leavers. It switched my brain or it flicked a switch and it was like, well, even though you're actually seeing people at the absolute lowest point, you really sort of some really terrible depressing things. But there's so much humanity, so many people working in the field who are like, you know, doing great things. People who aren't really into politics might not necessarily have good politics
