The Future of Data Transmission Speeds
An international team of researchers from Japan, Australia and the Netherlands and Italy have just rewritten the book on data transmission speeds. They pumped an incredible 1.7 petabits of data over 67 kilometers stretch of optical fiber. The first transatlantic fiber optic cable known as TAT-8 had a capacity of a mere 20 megabits in 1988. This revolutionary tech may soon supercharge these connections without the need for sweeping infrastructure changes.
