The Origins of Feudal Europe

A feudal system was an agreement between the king and nobles, who he granted land. He bequeathed them huge swathes of land in return for services to the crown. So if you went to battle and you did well, maybe he would reward you with a bit of land. Right. And then they had the local peasants, the peasants had their own separate system where the lord would give them or rent them land and protection in return for military service to that lord. Okay. Food for thought, I suppose. Now, feudal Europe is a system that was around hundreds and hundreds of years ago.
