The Communist Strategy in Manchuria

In 1945 and 46, the plan worked perfectly. The Nationalists easily took the major Manchurian cities. puzzlingly though, in the face of this critical campaign, the Communist strategy made no sense. If Chang sent an army from one city to reinforce another, the Communists would encircle the rescuing army. Their encircled and isolated cities started collapsing even before directly attacked.
