The Importance of Causality in Indian Mythology
The idea of corruption being caused leading to the flood is not found in Indian mythology. This kind of causality or what I call tit for tat karma is a late Buddhist phenomenon, but it's really not a dominant idea in India. Although it's an easy answer, easy way of saying things that you have upset the gods and the floods have come. It's more like nature does its thing. And it is karmic. There is a cause, it's just that you may not know the cause. But there is a cause,. yes, but it’s not something which is under your control.
