What Did Your Parents Teach You About Making Your Way in the World?

I think I, my parents were valued kindness, right, to some extent, above performance or excellence. So that was a big deal in our house was was working hard and doing your best. My creative life and professional life sort of played out in the same way. And so I saw, in particular, my dad developing strengths that compensated for the pieces of them that had been perceived as weak.
