When we're anxious it's almost impossible to be patient in a situation like this one. Helping means that we trust him and we're there to support him, but not to expect or meet a certain outcome. The tendency many of us have is to jump ahead of our child and try to get them back into the experience. I remember that being a hard skill for my kids to learn. It does take calmness and it takes finesse.
