In prehistoric planet too, they seem to have gone with a large dome and a large horns on Pachycephalosaurus. Both the males and the females in the show had some pretty sizable horns. A paper by Snively and Theodore in 2011 looked at modern animals that headbutt and found a pretty good analog. They found that the type of antelope called a diker has a similar small and round dome on top of its head and is pretty close to Stegosaurus.
