The Importance of Literacy in Iceland

In the 11th century, Iceland had a 97% literacy rate. Because there's nothing better to do in the winter but sit around and read, they became a reading society. I really enjoyed how Fonda was sharing that kind of the aesthetic in many ways of the world kind of came first in this field that she wanted to convey.
