How to Keep Your Heart Rate Down for Training
Stephanie: I know how important it is to stay in zone 2 for a lot of the training, but I just don't know how to do it As soon as I start jogging, my heart rate is 160 at minimum, do you have any suggestions? In general, I think that for those zone 1 and zone 2 workouts, it is good to follow heart rate. For some athletes including you, there are athletes with a lesser aerobic base who may need to sacrifice form or even walk if they want to keep their heart rate down. The question becomes one of just keeping being consistent with your training,. And ideally gradually increase the amount of training and running that you do.
