I went to a very white school. And for some reason, our director kept picking plays that featured non-white characters. So I kind of let the whole theater thing go and never tried out for anything. It got even worse because they were doing Miss Saigon and I'm Vietnamese. But then they ended up casting this white girl and a couple other white people to play the Vietnamese people. She was wearing a traditional Aussai and she dyed her hair black. That left a hold of taste in my mouth in which I never pursued theater or acting outside of my childhood. Without the support that I've gotten from YouTube, I wouldn't have been able to afford my program.
