Avocenna's Thought Experiment

Aristotelian theory of knowledge should be directed at universals. Avocenna considers only the intellectual part of the soul, what he calls the rational soul, to be separate from body in its activity. In fact, just like giraffes, the human soul needs matter in order to be the specific soul that it is. The Neoplatonists had portrayed the body as a hindrance to wisdom and knowledge.
