Is CCR5 in CAR-T Cell Therapy?
Scientists have engineered the CCR5 to be light-inducible as well. It's a chimera of two proteins, so it's kind of like CAR-T cell therapy. They put in a light-sensitive outside domains that faces the outside of the cell. And then on the inside of the cell, they put in the signaling regions. So you can use light to really temporally control when you activate the C CR5.
